May 10, 2016
Blue Rock Village, Africa’s first multibillion eco-friendly village is situated in The Cape Helderberg, otherwise known as the Helderberg basin, one of the most visually dramatic areas in the Cape. The Hottentots Holland and Helderberg Mountain ranges create a powerful backdrop against which the valley descends into vineyards and finally on to a coastline swept with warm waters and effortlessly white, sandy beaches.
Blue Rock Village is perfectly positioned at the heart of the Helderberg, Elgin and Stellenbosch wine routes which is home to the towns of Gordon’s Bay, Somerset West, Strand, Grabouw. We are only a 45 minute drive from Cape Town CBD and mere 15 minutes’ drive from the Cape Town International Airport. Gordon’s Bay is an invitation for windsurfing, surfing and a walk along the harbour wall to take in the yachts and boats as they leave and enter the protected marina, is a must.
If it’s swimming, sunbathing and a stroll on the beach you’re after, you can enjoy the warmest and biggest outdoor pool in Africa. Blue Rock Lake reaches temperatures of up to 27º C. Alternatively, you can visit Gordon’s Bay Bikini beach or Strand and if you are an avid surfer, also head out to the magnificent Kogelbay. These are all located a stones throw away.
The Helderberg Wine Route and Elgin Valley Wine Route both have distinct personalities and the wines produced here are heavily influenced by cool sea breezes and ideal soil conditions. Vineyards line the slopes of the Helderberg, sharing both a mountain and maritime climate that has resulted in world class examples of wine on a route that ranges from a 300-year old historical manor to art boutique wineries. Up to 40+ wineries can be found on this route. Overlooking False Bay, one can find the Helderberg Nature Reserve which is home to various fauna and flora. Reaching up to as far as the cliff faces, the vast reserve offers picnic spots and various hiking trails for the public to enjoy.
Cape Town is well-known for its weather, which is typically Mediterranean, with warm, dry summers and mild moist winters and low summer rainfall. Near the coast, summer temperature rise from a pleasant low of 15º C to a heartwarming 30º C. Inland temperatures are some 3-5º C higher. Coastal winters see the mercury dropping to a mild 7º C at night and rising to a comfortable 18º C by day. Away from the beach, morning wakens to an invigorating 5º C and midday peaks at 22º C. These weather conditions enables one to enjoy all the various attractions on beautiful, sunshine days throughout the year.
Our temperate climate also creates perfect conditions for golf. There are more than 550 golf courses, 36 golf estates and 6 golf resorts in South Africa. Many were designed by the world’s top golfers, and many are in breathtaking locations such as the Helderberg Village Golf Course one of the Western Cape’s most beautiful 9-hole golf course with alternate tees, and classified as a challenging course rated par 70 layout.
They are many reasons why you should visit Cape Town and the beauty of The Cape Helderberg is one of many reasons to why you should own a luxury apartment in the heart of the Helderberg -Blue Rock Village.
